The December image from my Ireland 2019 calendar shows a view of an old cottage in front of snow-covered mountains in the Black Valley. Actually, the trip to the Black Valley last December was an action with an uncertain outcome. Already at the Gap of Dunloe I struggled with icy roads and shortly before I turned into the Black Valley it started to snow heavily and grey clouds restricted the visibility. But there is one thing you can usually rely on in Ireland – the unstable weather. In this case, the grey winter weather took a ten minute break when I arrived at the cottage and even the sun managed to brighten the scenery for a moment. The upper left corner of the image indicates what it should look like a short time later. The clouds were already crawling over the mountain and it didn’t take long until everything was grey again.
