The monastic settlement of Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and developed to a monastic city over the centuries. The little chapel “St. Kevin ‘s Kitchen” and the 33 meters-high Round Tower are the most striking monuments of the monastic site.
Glendalough is one of Ireland’s great ecclesiastical foundations and one of the major attractions of Failte Ireland’s current “Ireland’s Ancient East” campaign.
