The January image of my new Ireland calendar was taken in January 2016 when the Dublin Bay was whipped by a storm. Again and again, waves were pushed against the rock on which the Martello Tower was built. Not only the tower got wet that day, also I got completely soaked and I had my trouble to keep the camera dry.
About 50 of these Martello Tower were built along the Irish coast at the beginning of the 19th century in anticipation of a Napoleonic invasion. This ultimately never took place.
